RULES FOR THE CONTEST

  1. The overall contest mechanics have been hosted on the contest landing page that is ageekthing.tatadocomo.com
  2. Information as it is available on the contest page is the only authentic and valid information around the contest. Tata DOCOMO is not responsible for incorrect / misleading information presented / displayed on any other source other than the contest page on its website (ageekthing.tatadocomo.com)
  3. There are two stages in the contest. Participation in this contest, and becoming eligible for the prizes is subject to successful clearing of these two stages :
    1. Stage 1 - the participant needs to be a member / fan / follower of the official Tata DOCOMO identity on the social networking platforms (as the case may be for Orkut, Facebook and Twitter, respectively).
    2. Stage 2 - In this stage, the participant is provided with a set of 10 multiple choice questions, each with varying levels of difficulty.
      1. The incremental points that these questions carry are directly proportionate to their level of difficulty.  Thus the easiest one has the lowest marks and the most difficult one has the highest marks
      2. Each participant is given 90 seconds in all to attempt to answer these questions
      3. However each 'wrong answer' would mean that the 'marks' of the question, which has been responded wrongly would be deducted from the total score of the participant.
      4. At the end of 90 seconds, basis the number of questions responded to rightly (as well as wrongly) a net score of the participant would be calculated which will be the total marks of the questions answered correctly subtracted by total marks of the questions responded wrongly). This score would be called the 'Geek Score'
  4. Each question would appear independently and the participant gets one attempt to answer them. Once the participant moves to the next question, he can't go back to the previous question.
  5. Upon successful completion of the two stages, as mentioned above, the participant will be asked to submit his name and e-mail id. For the purpose of the contest, submission of the name and e-mail address after clearing the stages as highlighted under point (3); would be called as one 'entry'
  6. The winner of the day would be selected basis the 'Geek score' as accumulated by the participant , as explained under point 3(b)
  7. In the event of a 'tie' between contestants on the 'highest Geek Score of the day', the winner for the day would be chosen by the 'time taken' by such participants, and the participant with the 'least time' will be declared the winner for the day. The time taken would be computed by the 'server' hosting the game, and not the time taken which is being reflected by the computer through which the participant is playing the game.
  8. In the event that there is a tie on the 'time' as well as the 'highest geek score', in such cases, the winner will be selected by random draw of lots between all such participants.
  9. Links to the official Tata DOCOMO social networking identities on Orkut, Facebook and Twitter are given on the contest page.
  10. Prospective participants who are already part of the Tata DOCOMO fan pages on Orkut, Twitter and Facebook, may please log onto ageekthing.tatadocomo.com, and check to ensure that they are part of the official group. If they are not part of the official identities, they would have to add themselves on the 'Official Tata DOCOMO' identities, using the links as given on the contest page. 
  11. There can only be one entry from one email id for the day.
  12. Each participant must have a minimum of 5 friends/followers/fans.
  13. Quiz taken by a participant by an ID/username/account created after Nov 30 will be subject to disqualification
  14. A winner once declared for the day, is not allowed to participate for the subsequent duration of the competition.
  15. This Contest is open to individuals only. Corporate, Agencies, employees of TTSL, its business associates and their immediate family members are not allowed to take part in this Contest.
  16. The contest will be open from 30th  November 2009 – 12th December 2009 only.
  17. Participant, with the winning entry, shall make himself available for various Tata DOCOMO led PR initiatives around the Contest at the appointed date, time and place as requested by Tata DOCOMO.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE CONTEST

  1. The Contest is open to all individuals who are Indian citizens, aged 18 years and above.
  2. There is no entry fee for participation in the Contest. Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) does not require any payment for entry into the Contest nor does TTSL offer any form of payment, actual or implied or any assured prize to the participants, for participation in the Contest.
  3. The participant, as a “pre-condition" to the Contest, have to add the 'official' Tata DOCOMO identities on the contest page – ageekthing.tatadocomo.com, to become member / fan / follower of the official Tata DOCOMO identity on the social networking platforms (as the case may be for Orkut, Facebook and Twitter, respectively.
  4. After satisfying the precondition, the participant is provided with a set of 10 multiple choice questions, with varying levels of difficulty.
      1. Each question will carry certain points depending on their level of difficulty as determined by TTSL (i.e. the easiest question carries  the lowest marks and the most difficult question carries the highest marks)
      2. Each participant is given 90 seconds in all to attempt all the questions
      3. The points assigned for the question/s, which is wrongly answered, would be deducted from the points accumulated by the participant for the rightly answered questions, at the end of 90 seconds.
      4. The net score of the participant as above called the 'Geek Score'
  5. There may be multiple pages created around Tata DOCOMO on the Internet including some claiming to be the 'official page', on Facebook, Orkut and Twitter. The stated pages may have been using the names or logos or any other identity impression of Tata DOCOMO. However, a prospective participant can play the contest only upon adding the 'official' Tata DOCOMO identities as given on the contest page – ageekthing.tatadocomo.com
  6. Only participants who have successfully added official Tata DOCOMO page / identity, as mentioned can participate in this contest.
  7. All the participants who have created their social networking profiles on Orkut, Facebook and Twitter, post the start of the contest i.e. 30th November 2009 are not allowed to participate in this contest.
  8. There will be daily contest during each day of the Contest period, requiring the participant to play the questions as above in the required timeline.
  9. The participants may choose to play for any number of days during the Contest period and there is no requirement to play on all days of the Contest period. There will be one individual winner as 1st prizewinner, daily, during each day of the Contest period, who will be selected on the basis of highest score. In case of two or more participants with highest score, winner will be the participant who has recorded the highest score first in point of time. .
  10. The Contest cycle will run from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM, starting 30th November 2009 to 12th December, 2009.
  11. The participants are not permitted to enter into the contest on behalf of any other individual or entity.
  12. Tata DOCOMO will take appropriate legal action if any attempt is made by any participant to, tamper, hack, spoof, use Data stealing robots or harmful scripts, copy or distribute the content of the Contest page, or use any unfair means to rig the Contest and the scores thereof.  This will extend (but not limit to) to debarring the identity / participant from the on-going and all future Tata DOCOMO contests
  13. Tata DOCOMO will have the sole rights to define such unfair means as described above, and Tata DOCOMOs discretion will be final and binding. No correspondence in that regards shall be entertained
  14. Any entry – winning or otherwise for the day, which falls under the 'unfair' category upon scrutiny, will be declared void and in-eligible for the prize.
  15. TTSL will have sole discretion in the interpretation and enforcement of Contest rules
  16. The daily prize will be 1 Samsung Galaxy i7500 handset.
  17. The participants understand that the Samsung Galaxy i7500 handsets offered as prize would be are new and unused pieces. However TTSL is not responsible for any deficiency in the prizes and does not make representation about the quality, make & fitness of the prizes
  18. The winners will be intimated within 7 days of the conclusion of Contest period, by posting their names on the Tata DOCOMO website and by way of email on the email ids provided by the winners. In the event of no response/acknowledgement from the concerned winner to the email communication within 15 days, then his prize will be forfeited.
  19. The winner should submit the necessary redemption documents to TTSL, within 14 days from the acknowledgement of the prize by the winner. The redemption documents are declared as hereunder:-
    1. Pan Card,
    2. a GOI issued Identity proof,
    3. Address proof and
    4. The affidavit, in the format ass provided by TTSL, that the person will sign (declaring that the online identity that has won the prize belongs to the person concerned) [It has to be mentioned clearly]
  20. The prizes will be distributed/delivered to the winners by TTSL, within 30 days of receipt of all necessary redemption documents by TTSL from the winners, at the respective addresses of the winners.  If the winner absents from taking the delivery of the prize and fails to collect the same within 45 days from submission of redemption documents, then his prize stands forfeited.
  21. It is the responsibility of the participants to inform TTSL of any change in the address of correspondence, for availing the prizes.
  22. The prizes are non-endorsable, not transferable and non-substitutable. The prizes are offered on 'NO EXCHANGE NO REFUND' basis.
  23. TTSL will entertain no requests for exchange in lieu of the prize/s. 
  24. Apart from the entitlement to the above prize/s, the winners and/or their legal heirs will have no other rights or claims against TTSL 
  25. To process redemption, each winner should declare his name, address and provide proof of identity.
  26. The prize/s shall be subject to the laws of India, including all the tax laws. All applicable regulatory and statutory duties, cess, surcharges, taxes (including TDS), insurances, transfer fees, registration fees etc. that may be applicable to avail the prizes will be borne by the winners
  27. All participants must abide by the terms and conditions as described here. The participation in this Contest implies acceptance of all the terms and conditions of the Contest
  28. TTSL reserves the right to modify, add, or delete any terms and conditions or participation mechanics of the Contest at any point of time at its sole discretion by prior information to participants.
  29. TTSL is not responsible for participant not being able understand the Contest mechanics or for his interpretation of the same. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
  30. Any disputes with respect to the Contest shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts of Delhi only.
  31. TTSL shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations caused by weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, acts of God or any other circumstances amounting to Force Majeure.
  32. TTSL shall not be responsible for any loss or damage if it has to discontinue or cancel this Contest in compliance with any law, ruling, order, regulation, requirement or instruction of any Central/State Government or for any other unavoidable reason beyond its control. The participants shall be informed of such discontinuance/cancellation as soon as possible, through the Tata DOCOMO website.
  33. The prizes are sponsored by Samsung. Any manufacturing and other defects in the prizes shall have to be taken up with the sponsors. The acceptance of the prize by the winner shall be deemed to be an independent contract between the winner and the manufacturer and TTSL shall not be held responsible for anything in respect of the prize.
  34. To process redemption, each winner should declare his name, address and provide proof of identity. Also the winner should submit affidavit cum declaration stating that the entry and the id from which the entry was sent belongs to him and indemnity to TTSL against any claim arising out of the use of id from which the winning entry was sent. The winner has to submit the aforesaid affidavit in the format uploaded on the Tata DOCOMO website on Rs100/stamp paper. All the aforesaid documents have to be submitted for the purpose of redemption of prize within 30 days of the declaration of the winner
  35. TTSL will not be held responsible if the participants are unable to (i) access the contest page or/and official pages of Tata DOCOMO  on Twitter, Orkut and / or Facebook  and (ii) submit their responses to the questions of the Contest, for reasons given, but not limited to:-
    1. Bandwidth problem on the contest page
    2. Bandwidth problem on the internet connection from where the participant is attempting to access the contest page
    3. Time lapse
    4. Incorrect URL submitted by the participant
    5. Any other reason, technical or otherwise,  beyond the control of TTSL
  36. TTSL will not be held responsible if the communication pertaining to the winning entry(ies) doesn't reach winners for any of the reasons including but not limited to the following:-
    1. Incorrect e-mail address given at the time of submitting entry
    2. Inbox of the recipient being full / having insufficient space
    3. Bandwidth problem of the mailbox / server or the host
    4. Time lapse
    5. Any other reason, technical or otherwise, beyond the control of TTSL
